NEW YORK — "Oh my god, they're so normal!" one fan declared as she caught a glimpse of the Wanted leaving their hotel this morning. It was one of many exciting fan encounters the band would have on Tuesday (April 24), as they were out in New York City promoting their self-titled U.S. debut EP and the release of their new video, "Chasing the Sun."

MTV News was on hand with the guys in the early hours Tuesday while they chilled in the "Today" show green room chatting, eating breakfast and goofing around with a fat cat and a dog named Ted, both of whom were on the show today as well.

"We just arrived and we saw a 40-pound cat crawling across the floor," group member Siva Kaneswaran told MTV News about the early morning wakeup call and the show's other guest, a cat who is currently having his own moment chasing the sun. "This is the kind of stuff that happens to the Wanted. It's too early for this," he continued. "There's lots of big stuff happening today and were gonna do some crazy things."

Before they performed "Chasing" and their hit single "Glad You Came" on the morning news show, Siva explained how the guys prep for an appearance on a show like "Today."

"We prepared for this show this morning by having cups of tea and Cheerios, good for the heart," Siva, who declared he is not a morning person, shared. "Basically, just psych each other, gaze into each other's eyes and get excited, and that's what gets us through the day."

The "Today" show was the first of many media appearances the Wanted will make on Tuesday, leading up to their "MTV First" airing tonight at 7:53 p.m. ET on MTV. They will sit down with MTV News' Sway Calloway to debut and chat about the "Chasing" video.

Immediately following the MTV premiere, the fivesome are hanging around for an additional 30-minute live Q&A session with Sway on MTV.com. Fans can get in on the action by submitting video or text questions via MTV.com or @MTVNews on Twitter, using the hashtags #MTVFirst or #AskTheWanted.

MTV News will be on hand with the guys all day, so stay tuned for more Big Apple dispatches.

China Times: HTC wants to develop its own processors for low-end phones

China Times: HTC wants to develop its own processors for low-end phones

Encroaching into the semiconductor business might not seem the most obvious move for a phone manufacturer that's trying to unify its efforts. Nevertheless, China Times reports that HTC has signed a "memorandum of cooperation" with ST-Ericsson to co-develop a new dedicated chip for low-end handsets coming out next year. Since ST-Ericsson is a fabless chip designer, HTC won't risk getting silicon between its fingernails. Instead, if this agreement is what it seems, the Taiwanese manufacturer may simply want more direct control over its supply chains and to reduce its current reliance on ready-made designs from Qualcomm or NVIDIA. After all, it can't be easy for HTC's new CFO, looking on while others gobble up those margins.

HTC One X sold early at AT&T, spotted in the wild

HTC One X sold early at AT&T

HTC's hotly anticipated One X isn't supposed to ship to AT&T customers until May 6th, but there's a reason we're emphasizing the whole "supposed" thing. One lucky reader has managed to convince one particular store to sell them a handset early, with $199 (and a new two-year agreement) being all it took to grab hold of what'll undoubtedly be one of 2012's strongest Android phones. There's a gallery of shots below as proof, and if you'd like to try your luck at a local outfit, we certainly won't step up to stop you. (But look, you'll probably be waiting a few more weeks -- just sayin'.)

N. Korea: We'll reduce neighbor's govt. 'to ashes'

By NBC News, msnbc.com staff and news services

North Korea's military has threatened to reduce South Korea?s conservative government "to ashes" in "three or four minutes" ? an escalation of its recent belligerent language.

It vowed Monday to launch unspecified "special actions" of "unprecedented peculiar means," an unusually specific warning.

North Korea regularly criticizes Seoul and just last week renewed its promise to wage a "sacred war," saying South Korean President Lee Myung-bak had insulted the North's April 15 celebrations of the birth centennial of national founder Kim Il Sung.

Kim Jong Il's 'last will' to son: Make peace, build more weapons

Its latest threat follows U.N. condemnation of North Korea's launch of a long-range rocket that exploded shortly after liftoff April 13. Washington, Seoul and others called the launch a cover for testing long-range missile technology. Pyongyang said the launch was meant to put a satellite into orbit.

Despite launch failure, North Korea celebrates military-style

The North's special actions "will reduce all the rat-like groups and the bases for provocations to ashes in three or four minutes, (or) in much shorter time, by unprecedented peculiar means and methods of our own style," according to the statement by the special operation action group of the Korean People's Army's Supreme Command.

Terrorist attacks?
Some South Korean analysts speculated the North's statement was meant to unnerve Seoul; others that the North could be planning terrorist attacks.

It seemed unlikely that North Korea would launch a large-scale military attack against Seoul, which is backed by nearly 30,000 U.S. troops stationed in the South, said Kim Young-soo, a professor at Sogang University in Seoul.

However, Dr. Cheon Seong-whun, of the Korean Institute for National Unification, told NBC News that he "wouldn?t be surprised if the North takes some military actions against the South soon given the concrete words announced by the North today.? ??

?I believe the North?s statements have passed the rhetoric stage,? he added.

Pyongyang refuses to let failed rocket launch dampen tone of festivities.

The North's latest threat, which was carried by its state media, comes amid rising tensions on the Korean peninsula, with both Koreas recently unveiling new missiles.

The animosity has prompted worries that North Korea may conduct a new nuclear test ? something it did after rocket launches in 2006 and 2009. South Korean intelligence officials have said that recent satellite images show North Korea has been digging a new tunnel in what appears to be preparation for a third nuclear test.

We may never know why North Korea rocket failed

South Korea's Unification Ministry said it was examining North Korea's intentions behind the statement; the Defense Ministry said no special military movement had been observed in the North. Officials spoke on condition of anonymity, citing office rules.

Relations between the Koreas have been abysmal since Lee took office in 2008 with a hard-line policy that ended unconditional aid shipments to the North.

In Beijing, North Korea's biggest ally, China's top foreign policy official met Sunday with a North Korean delegation and expressed confidence in the country's new young leader, Kim Jong Un.?

James Cameron-backed Planetary Resources to search the universe for Unobtainum

Image

Planetary Resources will reportedly announce later today that it's developing and selling low-cost spacecraft to mine asteroids close to the Earth. The space exploration and natural resources venture is led by X-Prize creator Peter Diamandis and NASA's former Mars chief, Eric Anderson -- with cash backing from James Cameron, Eric Schmidt and Larry Page amongst others. Within a decade, the company hopes to kickstart a 21st century gold rush by selling orbiting observation platforms to prospectors with significant rewards -- a 30-meter long asteroid could hold as much as $50 billion worth of platinum at today's prices. The company's own teaser materials promised that the project would add "trillions of dollars" to the world's GDP, which sounds like a film we saw recently.

Is A 'Game of Thrones' Romance In The Air?

'I'd hope for them to live happily ever after, but it's 'Game of Thrones,' right?' Richard Madden says of Robb Stark's romantic interest, Talisa.
By Kara Warner

Another week, another gripping, wholly enjoyable episode of HBO's hit "Game of Thrones." Forgetting for a moment the frustrating continued existence of one Joffrey Baratheon and all the rather gruesome scenes in Sunday's episode entitled "Garden of Bones," let's take a moment to appreciate one easy-to-watch scene: the meet-cute between would-be King Robb Stark and feisty nurse Talisa (Oona Chaplin).

In the midst of all the blood, battles and complicated politics, might there be room for a real romance between two characters? MTV News was lucky enough to sit down with Robb Stark himself, Richard Madden, to get the scoop on this intriguing new story line.

"Robb's in a place where it's the first time he's met a woman, it's the first time he's had his head turned. It's the first time he's been in this position as this boy-king and the first time someone doesn't bow down to him, doesn't treat him like a king, doesn't cater to all that," Madden explained of his character's interest in Talisa. "She asks him real questions, she challenges everything and makes him ask questions of himself, he's kind of blown away by that, this kind of light in the darkness. He's surrounded by all these men and by all this violence and hate and blood, and he's got this woman there who kind of looks him in the eye and talks to him in a way he's not used to and he can't help but be intrigued by that. I think in the beginning he doesn't even know his head's been turned until we're right into it."

So now we know there will at least be major head-turning, but no telling how long that will last in the twisted and dangerous world of "Thrones." When asked for his thoughts on Robb and Talisa's future as a couple, the Scot wasn't at liberty to divulge gritty details, but did mention a hope for happily ever after, however unlikely that may be.

"I'd hope for them to live happily ever after, but it's 'Game of Thrones,' right? That doesn't really happen often with anyone," Madden said with a smile.

"We're going to see a lot of changes with Robb's character this year and this woman is the first big influence that takes him away from following his head. Usually his heart and his head are on the same page when it comes to decision-making and this woman takes him in a different direction and influences over the decisions that he makes and sets things on a different course with his mother as well. That's a huge kind of fracture between them," he continued. "So I'm keen to see how that plays out onscreen."

Do you think "Game of Thrones" is going to get romantic? Let us know in the comments!
